just venting about heisenberg’s visual design. in which i try to be funny and salty at the same time
like i really sincerely wished i hadn’t learned that he was supposed to partly be based on victor frankenstein. why the fuck does he. look like a cowboy. like..... seriously i get that he’s the “iron horse” of the storybook so, that part makes sense but i think they really put way too many ideas into this guy. too much horse. not enough horse. not enough MAD SCIENCE.
next to the other lords who very CLEARLY illustrate what classical monster trope they’re supposed to represent (vampire, swamp thing, haunted doll) you have this guy who just looks really........ bland and normal, actually. if they were trying to mix both “mad scientist” and “horse theme” they leaned way too hard into the horse side of the equation cuz he does not look the part.
i’m guessing they wanted him to look the most human out of all of them so that perhaps ethan might sympathize with him more, except that ethan’s character is also written so ham fisted so it was not ONCE a believable option! from an audience pov ethan has been nothing but the most basic belligerent cussing hero who would nEveR stoop so low!
if it was because they wanted his level to be a surprise? i can sort of see that. hard to mask “mad scientist” if you put the fruit in a lab coat, but! listen to this:
make karl look like a damn unhinged freak who electrocutes corpses for fun and profit, like he was supposed to. what the fuck kinda business does a cowboy larper have in backwater Romania anyway. checkmate atheists
