This one’s a bit late, but it’s been a long day so what the heck.

“Do not repress your feelings.”
In times when we’re feeling down, unmotivated, or insecure, we tend to try and block those feelings. That’s completely fair too, because they aren’t comfortable things to deal with. However, the only real way to deal with them is by confronting them and feel them completely. The more we understand and accept our feelings, the better we are at moving past them.
Times are tough, you may feel drained, so do I. I haven’t been consistent in my practice for who knows how long and the current world situation is not helping but hey…
Clean your altar!
You may not feel up to cleaning your whole house but just give your altar a quick dusting, dispose of old offerings, change seasonal decorations, reacquaint yourself with the spiritual side of yourself for 5 minutes. It feels good! Good luck, and best wishes to you all in these troubling times.
Since quarantine my thoughts have been a lot more frantic, I’ve been struggling to sleep well and I’m sure a lot of you have been as well recently so I’m gonna share some stuff that puts me to sleep incase y'all wanna try some.
Beta Blockers (PRESCRIBED BY MY GP FOR ANXIETY). they control my sleep now so I take them at a specific time at night to help me doze off. A less clinical alternative to that would be chamomile tea but I personally hate the smell of it.
Some simple yoga poses before bed to practice breath control and give myself a chance to reset my spine.
Rain. Natural or prerecorded. it just makes me feel cozy and helps me relax. I mainly use YouTube.
Gradually lowering the light so my eyes can adjusted slowly instead of plunging myself into darkness.
Doing nothing and boring myself to sleep also works because of my beta blockers.
tabletopaudio.com it’s a site of different ambiences for tabletop games but honestly a lot of them are really calming. They’re also loopable.
I am well familiar with the shower being recommended as a an easy cleansing ritual for those who dabble in the occult, it is an excellent and handy method, and I would like to write about a little upgrade you can add to your routine, especially if you are doing cleansing before spellwork or any other work with you craft. I am an evening shower person, but it works very well in the morning as well, it can help reinvigorate your energy not just for craft work, but also for any tasks set for the day.
Start by doing your regular routine with your preferred supplies, after that spend a moment (or any amount of time needed) visualizing specifically negative energy washing away with the grime.
What I bring to the ritual is the attention to the water temperature. While visualizing the negative energy washing away, turn the heat up to the level where it is still tolerable, but you would turn it down for usual washing purposes. Please do not boil yourself. Also, I highly recommend protecting your hair from hot water as it has a very drying effect.
Now, when the heat is higher, visualize the pores opening and through them, all the additional unwanted energies flowing out and away with water. The heat will enter instead, as if filling you with liquid fire. This part does not have to be long, do not make it uncomfortable for yourself.
Next, ice cold water. Do as you find more comfortable: either gradually decrease hot and increase cold, or do a more sudden change. I started a few months ago with gradual change for cooler and cooler water, but now I just turn off the hot one and am left with the cold. If it is easier, you can also collect cold water into a bucket and turn it over above your head.
While the cold water is flowing over you, even if you can only tolerate a couple of seconds, spend them visualizing your pores closing tight from the cold, trapping the liquid fire, the almost boiling energy inside you. You might gasp for air or want to scream - both perfectly normal reactions.
After that, you are finished. Step out of the shower and listen to your body, you just might feel like a cauldron with a lid and something boiling inside. Blood and energy coursing through you. I find this state perfect for late night occult work. Cool and collected on the outside, fiery on the inside. I personally also recommend having your preferred body cream/lotion/butter ready - partly just because it’s good for your skin and partly because it reminds of a scene where Margarita becomes a witch it Bulgakov’s novel ‘Master and Margarita’.
Notes: please keep in mind your health, contrast showers might not be recommended after recent illness or due to existing health complications, so you might want to consult your doctor, and also your water/heating bills. Practice as often as required or desired.
(sorry if I spell something wrong. English isn’t my first language)
Someone very important to me is seeing everything from a negative point of view and going through a lot of bad things. I want to help them out very badly, because they REALLY need it, and it seems like I have to do something soon
So please, if someone out there knows a spell to send positive energy/banish negativity/send good luck to someone, please tell me about it. I’m still a beginner witch, but I’m VERY dedicated to learning about witchcraft and also helping out this person. I have the tools with me and I know the basics of witchcraft (but feel free to tell me any important details that I must know)
Still on birds, I think books like this are precious to witches. Biology books, botany books, science books. And first and foremost, books about the environment you live in.
Actually, you don’t even need books.
First thing I did after borrowing this ornithology book from the public library was search for the bird species I knew. Turns out I already was familiar with a decent amount of information about them, just from observing those birds everyday.
Now that I went back to being a city girl, I’m depending a lot on those regional biology books. But if you are lucky enough to live near nature, go on and get acquainted with your local fauna! Celebrate what you already have and create your own correspondences.
Person A is a green witch, Person B is the floral arranger for a floral shop. Person A uses their spells to grow plants faster to sell around town, and Person B becomes a little sceptical when the flowers they recieved came in abundance- Out of season.
Send me questions or things you would like answered. As I’m officially starting up the comic. I’ve been storyboarding today but I’d love to have some questions to answer with the comics!!! So drop in some questions!!
Keep a minimalist altar with just the essentials to your practice, no need to have tons of shit when you don’t have the space for it.
You can have your own balcony garden; with herbs, and even veggies and fruits! There’s plenty of guides online to get you started.
Banishing rituals - Instead of burning a paper, write your list in a piece of toilet paper and flush it down the toilet.
For those who move a lot or plan on moving someday: keeping mostly things from the outdoors on your altar or as decor will be very convenient when packing. Release it back into nature; you’ll find new treasures in your new environment.
