Recently Completed: Super Lucky’s Tale (PC / Xbox One)
It’s nearly the end of February, and this is the first game I’ve completed all year! And I didn’t even start it this year, I’ve been picking at it for ages! What is going on???
Anyway this is a charming, cartoony 3D platformer in which you play as a young fox on a quest to defeat some sinister cats. There is something about a magic book. I lost the plot because, like I said, I started playing this game I think in 2018.
I started with Game Pass on my Xbox One launch console, which runs at 30 fps. I’m not usually a big stickler for frames-per-second; I enjoy seeing higher numbers but will usually take what a game gives me, if it’s stable. However, this game just didn’t feel right at 30, and seemed sluggish. It’s not an incredibly difficult game but it was frustrating to take an unnecessary hit due to controls that don’t feel responsive.
Before Microsoft’s PC version of Game Pass, certain games could be downloaded through the MS Store if you had Console Game Pass, so I switched over to the PC version and was able to run it much more smoothly. This resulted in a much more pleasant experience and I played 80% of the game this way, before switching back to my XB1X to finish it off just now.
It’s solidly good, if not quite great, but worth checking out if you like retro-style (or Retro-style) platformers. Give it a play some time!

So I thought my splurging with the grant money refund, but I still needed more sports bras. And then I remembered that Kingom Hearts 3 is available on Xbox One. And Kingdom Hearts has been a favorite of mine for at least eight years. And my crush on Ienzo/Zexion is still strong.
I can’t wait to gush about being able to play it in the new house to my girlfriend. My icy little heart is fluttering. 💙
A great part of my career in sports journalism is being able to do something new. Whether it’s covering new events and/or meeting different people, I’m blessed to have that opportunity when it’s called for it. This past weekend, I began covering the NBA2K League via their Draft in New York City and prior to it, I spoke with 76ers Gaming Club Head Coach Jeff Terrell.
Terrell’s basketball journey, with or without NBA2K, is filled with great persistence and growth. And because of that, those lessons were able to inspire Terrell to create a productive and open space for his team and the results were great: Terrell won NBA2K’s Coach of the Year and led the 76ers Gaming Club to the 2KFinals, last season.
I had the chance to briefly with Coach Terrell on Friday morning!
#AST: What is the biggest lesson after making the 2K Finals last season and how will you guys follow that up?
JEFF: The biggest lesson came down to being very consistent. For while it was great reaching the Finals and further discovering our potential, we still have a bitter taste in our mouth from losing. I can say, we’re more motivated than ever to change that result; and all of us, including myself, had to look in the mirror and find the best and honest ways to improve.
#AST: How does it feel watching this league grow so fast?
J: It’s incredible. In season one, we had 17 teams and now we’re at 23, but what’s crazier is the fact, our 2K League is reaching an international level. Our commissioner BD (Brandon Donohue) has done an incredible job pushing the league forward and getting everybody involved. People are beginning to understand what’s at play here and why it’s important to be involved.
#AST: Would people be surprised at the level of preparation required to play at this level?
J: To an extent, I would say yes. These players have to prepare themselves as much as possible on and off the court and it’s not much different than what traditional basketball players have to do.
We have practice days and study film of our previous performances. Off the court, I’m proud of the fact, We’ve built a legitimate culture that succeeds in helping players grow in not that role, but as people.
#AST: What are your earliest memories of playing/being around NBA2K?
J: My journey was very different than others (laughs). I was actually playing college basketball five years ago until I got in a wreck. So during my recovery, I picked up 2K and a PS4 and began playing it a lot, which ultimately turned into me becoming very invested in the game.
Just being able to witness the team dynamic while playing with others in the Pro-AM and other modes, was very influential in creating the path, I’m on today.

Quick Review: “Rage 2” for the Xbox One.
Remember that post apocalyptic vibe of the first one? How it was different from other FPS games? Almost like a less cartoonish Borderlands but still fun? Yeah forget all that, this just another damn scifi shooter. Still not a bad evening though. 2.5 out of 5.
