You know the feeling when you start watching a new Netflix series without reading the description and BOOM your old teenage crush hits you in the face?
Yes I’m talking about Kubozuka Yosuke.
Laundry (2002) - dir. Junichi Mori
Characters managing to survive with their troubled minds until society eventually catches up to them. Teru, a boy with mental disabilities runs his Grandma’s laundry mat and meets a customer, played by Koyuki, who struggles with kleptomania. Teru often describes her as the type of “minx” that his Grandma warns him to stay away from. Somehow they end up on an aimless journey together.
I often watch this movie to escape the world and remember who I am: a troubled mind just managing to survive. Friends told me the actor Yosuke Kubozuka fell (or jumped) 9-stories from his apartment and yet survived. Maybe unrelated but it fits the theme of the film.
